7 Essential Oils for EMF Protection in 2022
If you’re anything like me (and if you are reading this post you probably are), then you’ve been looking for ways to protect yourself and/or your family from the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiation! You may have heard that using essential oils can help ward off these fields, and if you’re curious to learn more, this post is for you.
Often when we think of any kind of radiation or EMF being harmful to our health, we only assume X-rays, the sun’s rays, radioactive material, etc. But that’s so wrong! Our bodies are bombarded by EMFs on a daily basis from cell phones, microwaves, computers, televisions, and even our WiFi connection!
Even though the WHO has declared these types of EMFs as “possible carcinogens,” there have been many studies demonstrating the detrimental effects of EMFs on people’s health, to include cancer and heart disease.
In this blog post, I’ll go over how you can use certain essentials oils for EMF protection, along with some additional tips to minimize exposure!
Let’s get started!

What is an Electromagnetic Field (EMF)?
An electromagnetic field (EMF) is a physical field of invisible waves produced by electrically charged objects. It affects the behavior of electric charges and the flow of energy through electric and magnetic fields. The EMF affects all forms of life, including humans, animals, and plants. And every living thing emits their own electromagnetic field.
We typically separate EMFs into two categories:
High Frequency Waves
Ionizing waves are the higher frequency waves we know as x-rays, gamma rays, and ultraviolet radiation.
Ionizing waves can be harmful to humans, animals, and plants.
We already recognize these waves as being harmful to health.
- You wouldn’t go outside in the sun without putting on sunscreen, because we know how dangerous long exposure to the sun’s rays are.
- When getting an X-Ray done, typically you wear an EMF shield, due to exposure
- Being exposed to radiative material would probably freak you ou
It’s well known that exposure to these waves can cause cancer, sickness and damage to DNA.
Low Frequency Waves
Non-ionizing waves are low frequency waves. These are low frequency waves and haven’t been taken as seriously as having harmful effects on health.
These include:
- Microwaves
- Cell phones
- Radios
- Television
- WiFi

What is the Impact of EMF Exposure?
There have been over 240 scientists to publish 2,000+ peer-reviewed research papers on the dangers of these low frequency EMFs.
International EMF Scientist Appeal
“Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines. Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life.”
Longterm continuous EMF exposure to microwaves, cell phones, radios, television, and WiFi have been shown to have the potential below effects:
- Chronic fatigue
- Chronic headaches/migraines
- Depression
- Digestion issues
- Stress/anxiety
- Insomnia
- Infertility
- Immune dysfunction
When Am I at Risk for EMF Exposure?
When Using a Cell Phone
According to the WHO (World Health Organization) “The electromagnetic fields produced by mobile phones are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as possibly carcinogenic to humans.”
Work Environment
Depending on where you work, you may constantly be exposed to EMF. Look for anything electronical, WiFi routers, microwaves, computers, etc.
Around Security Systems
Security systems can emit EMF radiation through the wireless transmission of data, especially if they use WiFi or Bluetooth.
At Hospitals
Hospitals are full of medical devices which can potentially mean high exposure to EMFs.
Around WiFi
Depending on close you are to the routers, you could be exposed to EMF radiation!

How to Mitigate EMF Exposure
Before we get into the best essential oils for EMF protection, here are some additional ways you can mitigate and minimize your exposure!
Keep laptop away from body
Never put your laptop directly on your body! Keep it at least 20cm away. Use a laptop stand if you can.
Use a LAN connection, instead of WiFi
WiFi is on the higher frequency scale of non-ionizing waves. Constant and long-term exposure can be harmful to health. LAN connections are safer in terms of EMF protection. However, if you must use WiFi there are a few things you can do.
- Turn your WiFi off at night to minimize exposure
- Place your router at least 40 feet away from areas you most use in your house
Use wired headphones of speaker phone over a bluetooth earpiece
Bluetooth emits a lower radiation than mobile phones in general, but if you want to take precaution, use a wired headphone set when possible!
Leave room when microwave is in use
When in use, microwaves can emit electromagnetic radiation. Step out of the room while it’s running.
Essential Oils
Now we’ll look at the best essential oils for EMF protection and how to use them!

Best Essential Oils to use for EMF Protection
Essential oils are organic compounds that give plants their aroma and flavor profiles. Many essential oils have powerful medicinal purposes, including helping to prevent infections and stimulating the immune system. Some essential oils also act as anti-inflammatories or detoxifiers, so they can counteract the negative effects of electromagnetic fields on your body’s organs and tissues. It is believed that aromatherapy with natural essential oils can even improve mental health, reduce stress levels and promote healthy sleep cycles.
Some of the best essential oils for protecting you from electromagnetic fields include lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, myrrh oil and thyme oil. All these oils are known to protect cells from damage that results when they’re exposed to electromagnetic fields.
Fennel
Fennel essential oil is a natural oil that is extracted from the fennel plant. The oil has a sweet and licorice-like aroma. It is a great choice for aromatherapy and can provide a host of benefits, including protecting against electromagnetic fields. Fennel oil is a natural antioxidant, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory. It contains anethole, the main compound that helps reduce inflammation and protects against cancer. Anethole has also been found to increase glutathione levels, the body’s master antioxidant.
Clove
Clove oil is a powerful antioxidant. It contains eugenol, terpene ketone, tannin and curcumene.
Clove essential oil can protect DNA against oxidative damage caused by electromagnetic fields (EMF) due to its antioxidant properties that work as radical scavengers. EMF exposure leads to increased production of free radicals, which depletes antioxidants responsible for cellular protection like glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT). Free radicals also take part in oxidation-reduction reactions leading to oxidative stress. Antioxidants like GSH, CAT and SOD are required for cellular protection. Clove oil prevents damage of cells by boosting the immune system through increased levels of these antioxidants.
Myrrh
Myrrh essential oil is a viscous, amber-colored oil that has been used for centuries for its medicinal and therapeutic properties. Myrrh oil is high in monoterpenes, which are believed to give the oil its antiseptic properties. Myrrh oil is also a powerful antioxidant, and has been shown to protect against free radicals damage.
Myrrh essential oil is also known to be anesthetic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, carminative (aids in the relief of flatulence), cicatrisant (used for healing scar tissue), cytophylatic (stimulates the production of new cells) and digestive stimulant. Myrrh has been studied extensively for its powerful immune boosting properties which make it a valuable addition to cold and flu formulas.
Thyme
Thyme oil is a strong antiseptic that can protect you from infections. It also has a calming effect, which can be helpful if you feel overwhelmed by the electromagnetic fields around you. Thyme oil is also a good detoxifier, so it can help your body get rid of any harmful toxins that may have been released by the electromagnetic fields.
The main component of thyme oil is thymol and has potent antioxidants. This is important for protecting you from cell damage, which can happen when your cells are exposed to the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields.
Thyme oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, which means it can reduce swelling and neutralize any free radicals that cause inflammation. This can help minimize any discomfort you might feel after coming into contact with electromagnetic fields.
Basil
Basil essential oil is a great oil to use for protection against electromagnetic fields. It has a strong and refreshing scent that is uplifting and mentally clarifying. Basil oil also has antiviral and antibacterial properties, which make it a great choice for protecting against environmental toxins.
The eugenol found in basil essential oil is a natural anesthetic and can be used topically to numb the skin for minor procedures.
Basil essential oil is able to protect against electromagnetic fields because it contains eugenol . Eugenol has been found to have protective properties against DNA damage from electromagnetic fields. Researchers found that eugenol could reduce DNA strand breaks. They also found that the presence of vitamin C enhanced this effect, which suggests that supplementing with vitamin C may increase this property even more.
Rose
Rose essential oil is a natural antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation in the body. Rose oil is also known for its calming effects, which can help reduce stress and anxiety.
Lavender
Lavender essential oil has a soothing, calming effect and is often used to promote sleep. It also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Lavender essential oil is thought to protect against electromagnetic fields by creating a protective barrier around the body.
