What is the Heart Chakra?

The heart chakra is the fourth of seven energy centers in the human body, and it is located in the center of the chest. The heart chakra is associated with the color green and the Air Element. Your heart chakra is responsible for our ability to not only give but also allow ourselves to be loved. It is also the chakra that acts as a liaison between the lower connected to Earth chakras and the higher spiritual chakras.

The heart chakra affects how well we connect with others around us.

Element: Air

Color: Green

What Does a Balanced Heart Chakra Feel Like?

When your heart chakra is balanced, you feel open and loving. You are able to give and receive love freely, and you feel compassion for others. You have a sense of peace and security, and you trust that the universe will provide for you. You are able to live in the present moment, and you experience joy in everyday life.

How do you view others who are different than you? Are you able to unconditionally love someone despite their flaws, differing opinions, different religion, etc? When your heart chakra is open and balanced, you are able to look at YOURSELF, know what you need to change, and are willing to change, transform, and grow!

What Does a Closed Heart Chakra Feel Like?

To tell if your heart chakra is open or closed, you can look for common signs and symptoms. For example, if you feel disconnected from others and tend to hold in your emotions, your heart chakra may be closed. On the other hand, if you have difficulty trusting others or opening up to loved ones, your heart chakra may be imbalanced.

If your heart chakra is closed, you may be more apt to judge or condemn others more quickly. You have a harder time forgiving others and accepting apologies.

Physical ailments such as respiratory and heart issues can manifest due to a closed heart chakra.
