Sharing is caring!

As temperatures drop and leaves fall, the air fills with a cool woodsy scent that makes us want to curl up next to a roaring fire drinking hot chocolate. Or perhaps a Pumpkin Spice Latte! 🙂 What says it’s fall better than that spicy pumpkin aroma filling up the entire house? I love pumpkin spice!

Now, you can enjoy this sweet scent all year round! Today, I’m going to walk you through how to make your own pumpkin essential oil blend.

Everyone looking to live a toxic free life needs a pumpkin or pumpkin spice essential oil blend in their collection! A pumpkin spice blend can have hints of cinnamon and clove, along with nutmeg and ginger. When used in aromatherapy diffusers, it can help to create a warm and inviting ambiance.

It’s also great for seasonal DIY projects like homemade candles and potpourri. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the scent of fall all year round, try an essential oil blend recipe below and let me know how it turns out!

Is There A Pumpkin Essential Oil?

According to Meriam Webster, an essential oil is defined as

any of a class of volatile oils that give plants their characteristic odors and are used especially in perfumes and flavorings, and for aromatherapy

Unfortunately, pumpkin is one of those plants that does not produce an essential oil. It does produce a seed oil though! But it does not hold the aroma of pumpkin. Which is what we need from an essential oil! It’s all about that home smell. Pumpkin seed oil has some pretty impressive health benefits and great to use for skincare products or cooking, just not aromatherapy.

So, that’s where we have to get a little creative and make our own!

Essential Oils to use for Pumpkin Essential Oil Blend

To make the best pumpkin essential oil blend ever, you need to use essential oils that are reminiscent of fall, coffee, fresh pumpkin pie, and different herbs and spices. Blending essential oils is a great way to find the perfect pumpkin pie essential oil.

Not every recipe will call for every one of these oils, but here are some of the ones I use!

Cinnamon (Bark or Leaf)

Steam distilled from either the leaf or bark, cinnamon always says pumpkin! I’m always adding cinnamon to my pumpkin pie or pumpkin spice lattes! Normally on top of whipped cream. I love making pumpkin essential oil blends that have slight hints of a cinnamon scent that isn’t too overpowering. But you know it’s there.
